GLASSJAW: No Heckling, Please
November 28, 2002GLASSJAW have posted the following very important message via their official web site:
"Attention all GLASSJAW show attendees: we at GLASSJAW would like to take a moment to address an issue regarding shows that has slowly come to light that is both disheartening and embarrassing. It is the issue of kids at shows (specifically our shows in this case),who choose to heckle other bands for whatever reasons. Whether people think this is funny or are just trying to be the loud mouth dicks at the show who want the spotlight on themselves for a minute of notorious glory … ?? … whatever the reason may be, it amounts to nothing but lame, lame , lame… The five of us in GLASSJAW have noticed this occurring more and more often at shows and for the first time having just come off our first headlining tour, we feel a little more comfortable in safely saying that it seems to be kids who are solely there to see us. Now while we appreciate the loyalty that our fans bring with them to this band, we don't want it misconstrued into something negative towards other bands especially bands we are friends with and that we like and respect. Being in a band, especially a new band, can be a tough thing, especially when you are out playing in front of a crowd that isn't necessarily there to see you, it takes a lot. We know all too well GLASSJAW did/does/is going to do it for years...all the bands up on that stage deserve respect, we only try to play with bands that we think should be respected. We specifically tried to assemble a package of bands for our headline tour that we felt all offered something different than what GLASSJAW has to offer, and we feel we succeeded in doing so, and we feel that is something everyone would appreciate all that much more, which for the most part it seems everybody did, the shows all went awesome, and all the other bands did awesome, but there is always those few kids with the big mouths that aren't appreciated, so not to beat a dead horse, but please everyone have a little respect and decency, if you are one of these people, please stop the immature bullshit and keep your mouth shut and if you are at a show and you hear someone heckling a band tell them to shut the fuck up, dig? Cool, thanks."
